Fellowship Opportunities 

New England Regional Fellowship Consortium

The New England Regional Fellowship Consortium, a collaboration of fifteen major cultural agencies, will offer at least nine awards in 2008-2009. Each grant will provide a stipend of $5,000 for eight weeks of research at participating institutions. Applications are welcome from anyone with a serious need to use the collections and facilities of the organizations. The Consortium's grants are designed to encourage projects that draw on the resources of several agencies. Each award will be for research at a minimum of three different institutions. Fellows must work at each of these organizations for at least two weeks. Grants in this cycle are for the year June 1, 2008 - May 31, 2009.

Note: Historic Deerfield and the Vermont Historical Society will not be receiving fellows this year.
 

How to Apply for a Consortium Fellowship:


Applicants must send the following materials:

  • A cover letter.
  • A current curriculum vitae, not to exceed three pages in length.
  • A brief project description (no more than four pages, double-spaced).
  • NERFC Grant Application Form, available in Microsoft Word for Windows 95/98/XP and Mac OSX (if you would like to enter the information using your computer in Microsoft Word) or PDF format (if you would like to type the information using a typewriter). The application is also available in the older Word 97-2000 format, or you may request an application by mail or email.
  • A detailed account of which collections will be used.
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty members (graduate students) or colleagues (independent scholars and professors) familiar with the applicant's work and with the project being proposed.
Application Guidelines:
  • All Applicants must submit two single-sided 8½" x 11" copies (one original and one photocopy) of their application packet in a page-size envelope.
  • Application packets should not be stapled or folded.
  • Pages must be numbered and the applicant's last name and project title must appear in the upper right-hand corner of each page. (This will insure that your packet will remain intact and in order.)
  • Applications may be sent as an e-mail attachment in MS Word format or Rich Text format (choose 'Save As' from the 'File' menu)
  • We cannot accept faxed applications. Please do not address applications to an individual staff member.

Applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2008.
