50 Years of Art in Rhode Island, 1950-2000

50 Years of Art

The mission of 50 Years of Art in Rhode Island: 1950-2000 is to create a lasting legacy of Rhode Island artists working from 1950 to 2000 through educational programming, exhibitions, and documentation.

When you talk about Rhode Island, you surely mention the incredible art and creativity found within it. The Rhode Island Historical Society, in partnership with Providence Inner City Arts, is working to recognize the work and contribution of those artists that helped established the foundation for an arts-rich community that we know today by focusing on photographers, painters and sculptors living and working in Rhode Island between the years of 1950 and 2000. Through 50 Years of Art in Rhode Island: 1950-2000, RIHS and PICA hope to acknowledge, in some small way, their contribution to our community through their art, their community-minded spirit and their willingness to share. More importantly, RIHS and PICA hope to document and archive their experiences.
