Enterprising Women: A Women's History Walk Wednesdays at 2:00 pm Starts from the John Brown House, 52 Power Street, Providence Among the stories tour participants will follow as they walk the streets of College Hill and downtown Providence are those of Betsey Metcalf, who in 1798 pioneered a braiding process that led to the development of the New England straw hat industry, and Christiana Carteaux Bannister, a Rhode Islander of African- and Native-American descent who became a successful nineteenth-century entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Providence Artwalk Fridays at 2:00 pm Starts from the John Brown House, 52 Power Street, Providence
