|Dates:||12 October 1782 — 12 October 1782|
|Notes:||Not listed in NYPL.
Paine is listed with other sellers of Abner Brownell's A Discourse upon the Worship of God, According to True Christian Divinity, and he is described as residing in "Gloucester," and there is some question as to whether or not this refers to Glocester, Rhode Island.
Although other sellers in the advertisement are located outside of Rhode Island—Groton, Swansea, Dartmouth—modern Glocester was spelled as "Gloucester" at least as late as the Caleb Harris 1795 state map. Glocester vital records list a Nathan Paine born on 14 April 1741, which would make him 41 at the time of the advertisement. Assuming the reference to Groton is to Groton, CT, a location in Gloucester, MA would be much farther away from the other locations.
