Museum Collections Research and Access
The Rhode Island Historical Society Museum Department makes the collection in its care accessible the public, conducts and encourages scholarly research, and through these efforts continues to illuminate Rhode Island ’s past so that present and future generations can comprehend more fully their predecessors, their communities, and themselves.
The Museum Collections are accessible physically at the John Brown House Museum and intellectually through the Society's online catalog, NETOP. Examination of objects on display, is available by appointment only and is restricted to guided tours and patrons for research.
All requests to view objects not on display must be submitted in writing at least six weeks prior to the time an appointment is desired.
