Smithsonian Affiliation definitely has its privileges! On April 28, 6:30pm, we’re honored to host Dr. Jeffrey E. Post – department chair, geologist, and curator-in-charge of the Mineral Collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History – who will deliver our annual Newell D. Goff Lecture at the Aldrich House.
The Hope Diamond is famous for its rare blue color and fascinating history of possession, which includes kings, thieves, and possibly even a curse. This illustrated presentation will explore the intriguing story of the Hope Diamond and those of other beautiful gems in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Gem Collection.
A Q&A and light refreshments will follow Dr. Post’s presentation.
This talk is presented as part of the Fashioning Rhode Island series for 2016, highlighting the role of the jewelry & fashion industry in Rhode Island History.
