Home Movie Day is an annual global celebration of homemade movies and the communities that make them. The 2020 Rhode Island “Pandemic Edition” will look a little different than usual as we will be gathering outside for a socially-distanced, pre-edited program, but the spirit will be the same! This year we are excited to add LIVE MUSIC from New Bedford Symphony Orchestra musicians EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Peter Zay.
Please join the Rhode Island Historical Society, in partnership with the Providence Children’s Film Festival and the West Broadway Neighborhood Association for a festive screening of home movies created between 1928 and 2020, and consider submitting your own for the program! Home movies can be depictions of special events, everyday life, artistic expressions, or just goofing around–most importantly, they give the power of representation to the people, and we want YOU to be a part of the show!
This year we’ll need your home movie to be digital (either “born-digital” or film/videotape that was already digitized), and we ask that it be no longer than 3 minutes. Please submit here and spread the word!
