The Rhode Island Historical Society, in partnership with LittleFire, is pleased to present its first annual Archive Remix Film Festival. This three-night, three-location event begins Friday, September 10, and will present an hour-long program of 3-minute creative remixes by local filmmakers using materials from the RIHS Moving Image and Audio Collections (MIAC).
Creators were provided with access to over 300 minutes of footage from the 20th Century and tasked with creating 3-minute short films composed of at least 75% archival footage.
All screenings will begin at 7pm and will take place on Friday, September 10 at the RIHS Aldrich House headquarters in Providence; Saturday, September 11 at the Newport Art Museum in Newport; and Sunday, September 12 at the South County Museum in Narragansett.
All events will be outdoors, weather permitting.
Outdoor screenings will have gates open at 6:30pm with guests welcome to bring coolers and refreshments. If events are moved indoors, refreshments will not be permitted. Masking requirements and COVID-protocols will be continually updated and communicated to all registrants.
This event is made possible in part with support from the Herman H. Rose Civic, Cultural and Media Access Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation.
The films screened are the creations of the filmmakers and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Rhode Island Historical Society.
