The John Brown House Museum, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, will host a free Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 30, from 10am to 4pm.
From 12pm – 4pm, guests will enjoy 18th-century fiddle music performed by living historian Erin Chetwynd. Guests may discuss with Chetwynd the music she is playing, and the context of this music in the 18th century, and ask questions.
Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a beeswax candle-making activity. The activity is $5 per kit and is available while supplies last.
Samples of Oliver Pluff historic apple cider will also be available for visitors.
In addition to the day’s festivities, guests can also visit three new exhibits currently on display in the museum; Sylvia, The Girl of My Dreams: A 19th Century Life, Dark Work: The Business of Slavery in Rhode Island, and Rights and Responsibilities in History. Additionally a pop-up exhibit will feature winter accessories from the RIHS collection.
This event is free to the public. No registration is required.
