“Pleasure the Means; the End Virtue” The 1795 Providence Theatre and ‘The Old Drop Scene’ in Context

Richard Ring, Deputy Executive Director for Collections and Interpretation, will discuss the Providence Theatre (in operation from 1795-1832) in the context of early American theater history, and talk about the project to digitally restore the Old Drop Scene, commissioned for the theater in 1809.
