
March is the international month of La Francophonie, a celebration of the French language and the culture of Francophone communities around the world!
Once again, the Museum of Work & Culture is partnering with several Francophone & Francophile organizations including the Québec Delegation Boston, the Canadian Consulate in New England, Alliance Française de Providence, the American Association of Teachers of French, the French American School of Rhode Island, the American French Genealogical Society, and the Rhode Island International Film Festival, to offer a slate of French-inspired programming:
What: Immersion Day
When: Saturday, March 5, 9am-3pm
Where: Alliance Française de Providence, 928 Smith Street, Providence, R.I.
Participants will discover the culinary, intellectual, artistic, and playful sides of French culture with a day long series of seminars and activities. Four seminars will be presented on topics including the social & political situation in Haiti, Québécois immigration & Leila Alaouis’ “Les Marocains,” photography of West Africa. $50 per person. A cocktail reception followed by a presentation of several award-winning Québécois short films with English subtitles. $15 per person. Space is limited. A celebration of the first day of spring & International Francophonie Day! Entertainment will include dance & musical performances by cultural groups from Francophone nations, marionette shows, crêpe making demonstrations, and more. A raffle will follow the event, with a grand prize of a four day trip for two to Québec City provided by Conway Tours. $15/adult & $8/children.
