The next installment of the Rhode Island Historical Society’s “Helping History & Heritage Happen” series will feature RIHS Communications & Digital Outreach Manager Shawn Badgley leading a discussion on how nonprofit staff in the cultural sector can use social media and other platforms to help engage and expand an organization’s audience; drive membership, attendance, and development; and showcase strengths while collaborating with other institutions.
“For most history and heritage professionals, time and budgets are often tight,” Badgley said. “The more tips and best practices colleagues can share when it comes to organizational messaging, whether it be traditional or digital, the more successful our respective and sector-wide efforts will be.”

“Helping History & Heritage Happen” is a series of professional development programs organized by the Rhode Island Historical Society for those in Rhode Island’s history, heritage, and cultural sector. On the second Wednesday of each month (9:30-11:30am), speakers, webinars, and interactive sessions will provide trainings, best practices, insights, and/or introductions to a variety of topics. Future sessions may include collections care, digital literacy, educational programming, youth engagement, collaboration among organizations, and financial sustainability. Locations for programs vary.
