  1. For years I have been wondering why we haven’t been keeping May 4th, Rhode Island Independence Day, as a holiday. Since we were the first, this should definitely be observed. I think VJ Day, which only Rhode Island “celebrates” should finally be let go and Rhode Island Independence Day replace it. It’s something we should be very proud of.
