Summary

Responsible for all aspects of maintenance of the Museum building and grounds.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to the following:
 Daily cleaning of the Museum public places and exhibits.
 Monitor HVAC, elevator, fire alarms, electronics and other equipment to ensure correct
functioning.
 Oversees inspections and repairs by outside party
 Work with Museum Director to get bids from outside vendors for any repairs or maintenance not
handled in-house.
 Small interior repairs and painting within the scope of abilities and when needed.
 Snow and ice removal/treatment of sidewalk and path as soon as possible after snow fall.
 Set up for rentals/events and clean up after events. Occasional nights and weekends included.
 Move furniture or other heavy items as required by staff.
 Monitor maintenance supply inventory and place monthly supply orders.
 Required to adjust work schedule to be able to assist to set up for and break down after events.

Qualifications

Experience in facilities maintenance or building systems maintenance, electronics, skilled trades work or some combination of these or equivalent skills. Familiarity with buildings architectural, electrical and mechanical systems, some experience with computers, electrical circuitry, carpentry and plumbing. Must have a valid license to drive in Rhode Island, a willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather, lift 50 pounds unaided to waist height, climb stairs, be on security call lists and respond to off-hour emergencies; trustworthiness imperative.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS diploma with at least 5 years experience.

Schedule/Pay/Benefits:
20 hours per week
Monday 7am-12pm, Wednesday 7am-12pm, Thursday 7am-12pm, Friday 7am-12pm
Pay: $18.00/hour
Start date: As soon as possible

Compensation & Benefits:
This position receives paid vacation time (starting at two weeks and becoming three after one year of
service), paid sick time (accruing at a rate of 1 day per month), and paid holidays.
RIHS has 403b retirement plan available.
