Historical note:
The French River Inn was a boarding house located in the town of Thompson, Mechanicsville, Connecticut. It was operated as an adjunct to the French River Textile Company mill and the Sayles Farm, all owned by Frank A. Sayles. The inn served as a temporary quarters for transient mechanics and tradesman having business at the mill, for the general public, and possibly for some of the mill workers. Food served at the inn was purchased from the Sayles Farm. The French River Inn was sold in April, 1923.
