Historical note:
The Champion Horse Shoe Company was a manufacturer of horse and mule shoes and toe calks. At the peak of the company's development there were branch offices in New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco. The company was owned by Frank Sayles, apparently as a part of Sayles Finishing Plants and not as a private investment. Champion was succeeded in March, 1922, by the York Company, owned by the estate of Frank A. Sayles. Records of the companies are found here running in the same volumes. The assets of Champion Horse Shoe and the York Company were ultimately taken over by the TARSCO Corporation.
