Historical note:
The Rhode Island Supreme Court Historical Society was founded in 1987. Its mission was to collect material relating to the state's supreme court, and also "providing educational materials illustrative of and relevant to the history and development of this judicial branch of government." It sponsored events in commemoration of the state's ratification of the U.S. constitution, and of the Dorr Rebellion. It also supported several publications, and helped support the creation of the Rhode Island Judicial Archives. Its active members throughout its existence included Patrick Conley, Albert Klyberg, Thomas Roberts, Paul Campbell and the president, Justice Florence K. Murray. The society's activity slowed after 1993, and it was dissolved in 1998. Its balance of $129,826 was placed in a special fund with the Rhode Island Foundation.
