Scope and content:

            This collection consists largely of Julian Mitchell's records as a member of the board of directors of the Northern Rhode Island Community Mental Health Center, Inc., a private non-profit mental health agency in Woonsocket, R.I. Mitchell was active on the personnel and fund-raising committees. The records include minutes of meetings, financial reports, annual reports, board correspondence, fund-raising material and a variety of other records, mostly from 1987 to 1999. The collection also includes a smaller quantity of records from Mount Saint Charles Academy, a private Woonsocket high school; and from Housing Partners for Positive Living , which according to its bylaws was "constituted for the purpose of providing elderly or disabled persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and who are HIV positive with housing facilities and to secure services specifically designed to meet their needs."

            These papers arrived in three separate batches as gifts from Julian Mitchell, on December 4 1987, June 13 1995 and April 20 1999. They were not processed until 1999, and were all accessioned together.
