Historical note:
The Rainbow Circle of the King's Daughters was organized in the village of Fiskeville, RI on September 18, 1920. It was part of the Rhode Island Branch of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons. The larger organization was founded in 1886 and it grew to include member units they called "Circles" and "Branches" in every state as well as in China and India. The Rainbow Circle is one of a dozen or more Circles that have existed in Rhode Island. The object of the organization is "The development of spiritual life and the stimulation of Christian activities." The Rainbow Circle participated in a wide variety of activities aimed at relieving poverty and sickness within their community. Sometimes that meant doing something as simple as providing milk for a family in need during the Depression. They also supported the work of the Rhode Island Branch which included Camp Saugatucket in South Kingstown, RI and the Emily S. Chase Memorial Home in Pawtuxet, RI.
