Historical note:

The Brahms Club was founded in 1934 by Nathalie R. Bander. In the beginning, it was composed of members of the Providence Symphony Chorus. The goal of club was, according to its Constitution, "to provide opportunity for instruction, expression and appreciation of good music, and to promote good fellowship among its members." The activities of the club have included organizing concerts, entertaining service men during World War II, bringing music to nursing homes and providing scholarships to young music students.
