Historical note:
The town of Cumberland was annexed to Rhode Island from Massachusetts in 1747. In 1867, the most heavily industrialized section of town was set off as the town of Woonsocket.
Provenance:
The 1870 tax assessment was donated by Allen Cooke in 1997. The incidental bills file was purchased from Steven Gross in 1999. The provenance of the other items is unknown.
