Historical note:

Broad Rock Farm was located in the village of Peace Dale, R.I., in the town of South Kingstown, just north of the Hazard family homes. It sold milk, cattle, swine, poultry, eggs and grain on the market, and also delivered ice cut from its pond. The farm seems to have been also known as the Adams Farm. It was originally the property of Rowland Hazard (1763-1835), was conveyed to his son Thomas R. Hazard in 1825, and then sold to Thomas' nephew Rowland Hazard II (1829-1898) in 1860. It was renamed "Broad Rock Farm" in 1874, at which point it was 400 acres. After his death, it was passed on to Rowland II's son Rowland G. Hazard II (1855-1918). In 1913, after several years of extensive losses, the property was placed under the management of Rowland G.'s son Rowland "Roy" Hazard III (1881-1945). It remained the property of Rowland G.'s widow Mary P.B. Hazard through 1931, when a portion was deeded to Thomas Phillips. The remaining 386 acres were deeded by her to the Hazard Trust in 1932. C. Christensen, who had managed the farm since 1927, purchased the bulk of it outright in 1933. Smaller portions ended up in the possession of Peace Dale Offices Inc., which managed much of the Hazard family land. The title history is sketched out in the Hazard Trust Records, subgroup 46 of the Hazard Papers; other information can be found with the Peace Dale Offices Records.
