Historical note:

The Peace Dale Tennis Club was formed in 1901, to make use of a private tennis court in the village of Peace Dale, R.I. According to its constitution, applicants for membership needed to be recommended by two current members. The club was active for about four years, and then faded away. The last dues were paid in January of 1907, and after a horseshoe pitching court took over the old tennis grounds, the club's remaining $1.39 balance was turned over to the current proprietors in 1924.
