Historical note:
Minnie A. MacFadden was born in Ogdensburg, New York in 1876. She became a registered nurse in 1907, and was hired as a nurse to care for the aging Abby Pearce (Chapman) Aldrich in 1913. After the death of Mrs. Aldrich in 1917, she was hired by daughter Abby G. (Aldrich) Rockefeller, and then remained at 110 Benevolent St. to serve as an aide to Rockefeller's unmarried sister Lucy T. Aldrich (1869-1955). Lucy Aldrich was an avid art collector, and MacFadden accompanied her on frequent trips to China, Japan and Europe. She remained in the employ of Lucy Aldrich until her death in 1947 or 1948.

Scope and content:
One letter file of Minnie A. MacFadden's personal accounts and papers was found with Lucy T. Aldrich's papers, and includes paid bills and correspondence from 1924 to 1931, as well as other miscellaneous papers. The correspondence includes several letters of thanks from John D. and Abby Rockefeller.
Provenance:
These papers were part of the Lucy T. Aldrich papers given to the Society around 1975, and stored at the Aldrich House museum until 1995.
Processing note:
These papers have been slightly rearranged, and rehoused in an archival box and folders.
