Historical note:
The Riverside Free Public Library was founded before 1889. Located in a neighborhood in the southern part of East Providence, it was a privately operated membership organization. In 1970, it was absorbed into the East Providence Public Library system.
Scope and content:
This collection consists of financial records from 1889 through 1970, a minute book from 1926 through 1970, and a few loose papers.
Provenance:
These records were purchased in 1996 by J. Stanley Lemons at Marty's Olde Tyme Country Auction in Foster, R.I. for the price of $5.00, and then donated to the Rhode Island Historical Society.
