Central Construction Company Pawtucket, R.I. Business records, 1918-1923 Size: 4 ft. Catalog number: MSS 6 sg 7 Processed by: Harold E. Kemble, Jr. July 1977 ©Rhode Island Historical Society Manuscripts Division |
Historical note:
The Central Construction Company was organized on 9 April 1918. This seems to have been little more than a change of name from the Central Engineering and Construction Company. The records of the two companies run concurrently and are intermingled. Both were apparently owned by Frank A. Sayles with offices in the Slater Trust Company building. The companies performed both heavy and light construction work for the Sayles mills and on contract for the general public.
Scope and content:
These are entirely corporate accounts and records of construction costs, 1918-1923. No blueprints, building plans, or survey records are known to have survived.
Provenance:
This collection was a gift from the Sayles Finishing Plants on 25 December 1971.
