The Rhode Island Historical Society is proud to share its collection of Revolutionary War manuscripts. These are mostly documents from Rhode Island Continental and state regiments, county militia regiments, and independent companies, during the period of the American Revolutionary War against Great Britain from 1775 to 1783. Lists of soldiers are the most common type of document in the collection.
Explore a searchable database containing soldier’s names, the date of the documents on which the names appear, the colonel and captain of his regiment, and the general location of the document within the collection.
Comprehensive finding aid to these documents.
This project was supported by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, a division of the National Archives.
