March is Women’s History month, so I thought I would take this opportunity to highlight amazing Rhode Island women! We will be posting more like this throughout the month.
Annie Smith Peck (1850-1935)

Annie Smith Peck (RHiX171683)
Born in Providence, Rhode Island Annie Peck Smith was a mountaineer and travel writer. She was an adventurous globe trotter and lecturer, climbing peaks from Europe to South America. Climbing well into her later years, Peck died at the age of 84.
The Rhode Island Historical Society holds some of her published travel writings. You can request these at the Rhode Island Historical Society’s Robinson Research Center.
