THIS HAS BEEN CANCELED

Purchase tickets here.

Ann Clare Boothe Luce (b.1903) was an American author, politician, U.S. Ambassador and public conservative figure. A versatile author, she is best known for her 1936 hit play The Women, a satirical comedy. Deploying a cast of no fewer than 40 actresses who discuss men in often scorching language, the play became a Broadway smash in 1936 and, three years later, a successful Hollywood movie. She was married to Henry Luce, publisher of Time, Life, Fortune, and Sports Illustrated.

Thanks to the generosity of The Players at the Barker Playhouse, this performance of Clare Boothe Luce’s The Women is reserved for you! The members and friends of the Rhode Island Historical Society. It celebrates both the RIHS’s 2020 theme of Spotlight RI: Performing Arts in Rhode Island together with the centennial anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States.

Doors open at 6:30 pm and guests should arrive no later than 7:15 pm. Seating is general admission and individual seats are not reserved.
RIHS will provide a short program and refreshments at intermission. Purchase tickets here.
