If we identify additional resources that are not available in digital formats, we will be in touch regarding an estimate for additional services, including reviewing and scanning manuscripts, printed items, and/or microfilmed collections. Please note that scanning services are subject to the condition of the material.

Research services are available for $50 per hour with a 3-hour limit per project. Multiple projects will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

RIHS members receive a discounted rate of $30 per hour for all research inquiries. To learn more about becoming a member, please visit our member page.

Your Copyright Responsibilities

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

If you have concerns or questions about copyright, please review the summary compiled by the Cornell University Copyright Information Center.
