“Shall We Shanty?”: A Night of Revelry and Song

As the Ocean State, Rhode Island’s shores have heard the songs of sailors for centuries. Sung to pass the time during a hard day’s work and often fueled by some variety of alcohol, these maritime performances are uniquely a part of our state’s identity. The Rhode Island Historical Society official members and friends alike are invited to join us for an evening of moderate revelry at Revival Brewing Company where John Birt, master guitarist and shanty expert, will lead us in the songs of our past while toasting to the day.
