Object Thursday: Landscapes

Blackstone Canal, 1828-1848
While we have been concentrating on disaster recovery over the past several weeks (and the gallery has some new photos), the real joy of working at the RIHS is working with the Collections.
This year’s theme is Rhode Island Landscapes and Seascapes, and while you make think Surf & Turf as dinner time approaches, there’s so much more to Rhode Island’s landscape history.
From the just-released newsletter cover (check your mailbox, or join us now!) to downtown Providence at the turn of the last century, the RIHS is home to an eclectic collection of landscape paintings.
