For their inaugural Shakespeare Play event, RI Shakespeare Rep presents Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the first full-length play produced by the organization, take place on the lawn of the John Brown House, 110 Benevolent Street, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 12, 13, and 14, 2022 at 6 pm. This is a free event.
RI Shakespeare Rep has added their production as a coda to the summer offerings, playing for the entirety of the final weekend. Goff hopes interest for outdoor Shakespeare will grow and more plays can perform here. Goff relates that the cast is well-versed in Shakespeare’s text, many having worked with her in college workshops or in past shows. “We concentrate on understandability and having a relationship with the audience, and having fun,” she says. Audiences are encouraged to arrive early and bring chairs, blankets, and snacks, to be
comfortable for the 90 minutes or so performance. Donations to RI Shakespeare Rep will be accepted; no rain date performances; snack truck and restroom planned onsite.
